The Hallmark Shapes
Perhaps the first thing to look for and the easiest by far is the shape.The Gold hallmark is represented with a rectangle shape with angled corners . Although this is not an exclusive mark for gold, many hallmarks have a rounded rectangle and some bear the shape of 2 circles pushed into a rounded rectangle.
Within this shape, you will normally find the gold purity marks, numbers. they can often be nested in between scales to indicate the purity mark.
